Uncover Curnamona

Location: Broken Hill Civic Centre 31 Chloride St, Broken Hill.

Participants will share information and ideas from cutting-edge research by the Geological Surveys of NSW and South Australia and collaborative partners, and mineral explorers under the UNCOVER Initiative themes. The event includes a core viewing session at the EC Andrews Drillcore Facility and a one day field trip to the Mundi Mundi area.

Broken Hill Line of Lode Public Fieldtrip

Location: Albert Kersten GEO Centre, corner Bromide St and Silver City Highway, Broken Hill.

A leisurely look at the famous Line of Lode led by the Geological Survey of NSW. This trip is aimed at the general public, and will provide an overview of the geology of Broken Hill, visit a gossan similar to the one Charles Rasp discovered in 1883 and discuss Broken Hill’s mining history at the historic Browne’s Shaft. Meet at the Albert Kersten GEO Centre at 1.45pm for 2pm departure on a charter bus. There will be an optional drop off at the GEO Centre at 4pm or people can continue to the EC Andrew Drillcore Facility to view drillcore and learn about geoscience online systems, returning to the GEO Centre at 5.15pm.

Please bring sun protection and water.

Workshop for WHS Mining Practising Certificates: Singleton

Location: Hunter Valley Mines Rescue Station

We will be holding a series of workshops across the state between August and November 2019 for people who hold a practising certificate or who want to obtain one. The workshops will cover:

  • How and when to apply for a practising certificate
  • How the maintenance of competence scheme works
  • What records and evidence you must keep for the learning you claim
  • How auditing will be carried out for holders

People who attend are encouraged to bring their application or records for maintenance of competence to discuss.

Please note: people applying for or holding a Quarry Manager with conditions practising certificate for a specific mine location (previously a Production Manager Permit) should instead attend a Small Mines Workshop that will be announced soon.
